How do I get started?
1. Connect your Brand’s social accounts
Just follow the prompts to connect. You must be a manager of the accounts to connect. If you’re not, you can connect later and invite the manager(s) of the account(s) to register in SurroundsMe and have them connect the accounts.
2. Create Assignments
Click on the Assignments link at the top and then choose the Create Assignments tab. Assignments are segmented into assignment types.
Start with the easiest, “Recommended Tasks” where you ask people to Like your Facebook page and Follow you on Twitter. Next ask your advocates to share out important content you’ve already posted. You’ll be able to select key posts from your stream in this section.
In the “Post a Message” section you can ask your advocates to post a message they generate from their personal accounts. Here, you can spell out the items you want to promote or what you want their network to know about your business or organization. Phrase these messages as if they’re coming from an average person on the street. Don’t make it sound too “sales-ey” or spammy.
In the “Custom Assignment” section you can ask advocates to do more advanced tasks like writing a blog post or posting a review. Select how you want to verify task completion by choosing options in the drop down menu. You can view and reward these completed tasks by viewing them in the “Activity,” “Claimed Rewards” section.
If you have a plan that includes SEO, you’ll see a “Share a Link” assignment type. Here you can ask advocates to validate a page on your website. The page will be liked (but will not appear on the advocates news or twitter stream). Search engines will place greater emphasis on websites with pages that are “validated”.
3. Invite Advocates
Click on the Advocates section at the top of the screen and go to the “Invite” tab. Enter email addresses of everyone you’d like to invite in the first text box. Be sure to separate each email address with a comma (,). Select their user role; either a Manager (this group wll have administrative access to your account and can post assignments) or Advocate (they will only be able to view and complete assignments).
You can return to any of these steps at any time.
